July 15, 2000, Run Day
On July 15, 2000, HALS hosted a VERY hot run day. With 106° temperatures, over 375 people rode the Cypress Creek & Southern trains. They stood in line and there were several birthday parties going on. These people love railroading as much as we do. What a fine day and lots of fun.
Also on this day, we premiered our new club vests. What a beautiful job Melissa and Brent Courtney did in stitching up the initial batch of 40 vests.
It's 6:00 p.m., Walt Sumner and Lee Balkum sport the new vests, and at 106° the crowd is at the gate ready to ride the first train.
Station Master Tom Herbert oversees a trainload of passengers disembarking.
Pia Arrate de Weldy is the conductor on a train full of happy riders (note the smiles).
Ron Pasley is engineer on the Zube Zephyr, just pulling into the station.

May 23, 2000, Parking Lot Paving
We received a beautiful new parking lot in late May. What a great addition, striped and all.
